We’ve loved Vikram‘s trademark dialogue “Anthaku Minchi”  in Shankar’s 2015 release, I. And now, that is the title for this horror flick. There’s a trend of using famous dialogues or lyrics from superhit songs as movie titles and they have been successful as well. In the latest film, Satish Jai makes a debut as leading star and he is also one of the producers of the film, which pairs him with Rashmi Gautam. Written by Mohan Chanda, this movie also marks the debut of director Jhony. The music and background score are composed by Sunil Kashyap and the cinematography is helmed by Bal Reddy. While there have been many horror movies in the recent past, let’s see what debutant Jhony showcases in his first movie.

Even though Raju (Satish Jai) does not have a job, it does not stop him from dreaming about becoming rich. He comes across an advertisement in a paper that announces a reward of five crores if the winner can prove that ghosts exist. Determined to win, Raju embarks on the mission to find ghosts and lands up at a haunted farmhouse owned by his sister and brother-in-law. Meanwhile, we meet Madhu Priya (Rashmi Goutam). Even she does not believe in ghosts or God and lands up at the same farmhouse to prove that ghosts do not exist. Will the duo succeed in their mission? The movie explores how their beliefs change as they encounter a malevolent spirit in the haunted house.

The suspense and horror factors of Anthaku Minchi are intense. Rashmi Gautam is the highlight of the movie. The actress delivers a fresh performance and has acted exceptionally well. Debutante Jai does a decent job too and is great with his comic timing. The music and background score are top-notch and set the mood right. While horror as a genre usually uses similar storylines in all its movies, the background score and cinematography of Anthaku Minchi keep you engaged throughout. The editing is slick with a runtime of just two hours. Given the budget of the movie, the production values are also put to good use.
