Though Bluff Master never runs out of steam, the director Gopi Ganesh Pattabhi and his screenplay stumble in striking an emotional connect to the story. The film revolves around Uttam (Satyadev Kancharana) who swindles money from the gullible and the greedy lot. Prudhvi Raj, the comedian is his first prey and the elaborate comedy sequence between him and the protagonist tickles your funny bones to begin with. And the story garners momentum when Uttam cheats people in the garb of a business company and meets the love of his life Avani (Nandita Swetha). Avani, realizing the dark side to Uttam’s life stays away from him, only to return in the second hour to help Uttam in the time of crisis.
In the meanwhile, Uttam gets caught by the cops, and escapes in the nick of time by luring the witnesses and lawyers with money. The story takes an unexpected turn when one of Uttam’s victims approaches the baddie, Aditya Menon, for help. The latter abducts him in return of the money and surprisingly ends up befriending Uttam later, only to get cheated by him soon.
The story then takes a U turn of sorts, marking Uttam’s transformation into a good guy, all thanks to Avani. But Aditya feels the time is ripe for a revenge and ends up duping Uttam soon enough. Even Avani is in trouble and these series of incidents lead up to a gripping climax, where actor Vamsi who plays a sidekick to Aditya Menon shines with his acting skills. He brings the necessary emotional context to the story, and makes you leave the theatres on a high.
