Hailing from a small town, situated in the northern part of India, local boy Raj refuses to succumb to the pressure exerted by his orthodox family and declares that he would only marry the girl he falls in love with. And, upon realising the intensity of his resolution, his lawyer father (Rajesh Sharma) concocts a plan for Raj to marry the girl his family has already chosen for him, with a little help from the father of the bride (Akhilendra Mishra). The solution, of course, is to introduce the two of them on the social networking site Facebook and let the girl make her way into his heart.

Now, in an age where people can find love on several other platforms dedicated just to the concept of match-making and finding a partner (for serious relationships, casual encounters and even companionship), why would director Narayan K. Sahu choose the relatively ancient ‘hunting ground’ Facebook is beyond our understanding. The film highlights one of the crucial characteristic features typical to humans – the desire to chase – but that has been dragged to a painful extent.

The plotline of ‘Facebook Wala Pyar’, just like its title, is stale and oh-so-predictable. The actors seem to have internalised the 90s idea of romance and refuse to let go off that even though the setting is new age. The actors, barring veterans Rajesh Sharma and Akhilendra Mishra, ham through their performances. The music and direction is plain and bland.
