First things first, Gali Guleiyan is not for everyone. Open to various interpretations, it’s a dark and haunting account of a paranoiac loner Khuddus (Manoj Bajpayee) who finds himself trapped in a time warp and bylanes of his past. Having lost track of time and purpose of his life, his morose existence revolves around the morbid fantasy of spying on his neighbours. You watch him suspiciously, the way he watches others.

The voyeur who considers himself a vigilante, quarantines himself in his dingy and dilapidated house in old Delhi. The cobwebs and dust sitting on his belongings for years are a testament to his state of mind. Khuddus’ only window to the outside world is his best friend (Ranvir Shorey). The latter haplessly watches his friend losing grip on reality and strives to keep him occupied and alive. However, traumatised and seemingly disoriented Khuddus, who’s on the verge of dying of starvation, is plagued by an agenda. He must find the whereabouts of a troubled boy Idu (young actor Om Singh in a parallel track), who needs to be rescued. The two stories unfold layer by layer simultaneously and if you are smart enough, you won’t take long to connect the dots.
