As the opening credits of Pattinappakam roll, we are introduced to some of the popular landmarks in Chennai, coupled with a song that highlights why the city stands out from others. Ironically, the story of the movie revolves around a psycho killer and a couple who suffers from terrible married life. Satya (Yog Japee), a sincere cop, is after the serial killer, while his friend James (Manoj K Jayan) and his better half (Chaya Singh) are having a tough time dealing with their married life. The story also has Vettri (Kalaiyarasan), a married middle class guy, who struggles to meet the two ends of his life.
A plethora of characters with their purposes not established properly, the narration is nothing short of complete chaos leaving the audience perplexed. With hardly any convincing sequence, the whole set up looks staged and amateurish to the core. We do not sympathise with any of the characters which seem to suffer on screen and there is no curiosity factor throughout the movie.
