Almost all the releases in the past two weeks have turned out to be huge hits. From Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam to Vishnu Vishal’s Ratsasan, all the films are raking in the moolah at the box office.
In spite of tough competition from Ratsasan and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Vijay Sethupathi’s 96 has managed to become one of the biggest hits of 2018. According to trade analysts, the film has become the fifth highest grosser of 2018 in Tamil.
Kaala, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, and Vishwaroopam 2 hold the first four positions respectively.
The film has collected about Rs 2 crore in the city of Chennai alone. Even in the overseas market, the romantic drama has the upper hand. It has become the third highest Tamil grosser abroad this year.
96 is expected to do well in the coming days as well.
Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead roles, 96 is the story of two childhood sweethearts, who could never be together. The emotional love story has gone down well with the audience.
