amaste England, featuring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra as the lead pair, had a disastrous first weekend at the box-office. The film, on Sunday, added Rs 1.30 crore more to its kitty to reach a total of Rs 6.55 crore after a four-day run in the cinemas.
Earlier, Namaste England witnessed a poor start as it collected Rs 1.75 crore on Thursday. The film saw minimal growth on Friday and earned another Rs 2 crore. On Saturday, it fell flat on its face and could not bag more than Rs 1.50 crore.
Keeping in view the current trend, Namaste England will struggle harder in days to come to hold its own at the box-office. In a scenario like this, it is safe to assume that the film will not be able to survive beyond its first week. Its lifetime total is expected to remain under Rs 15 crore, film trade analysts believe.
The Vipul Amrutlal Shah directorial has suffered largely due to negative reviews and unfavourable word of mouth. What made things worse for the film is the stiff competition from the Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra-starrer Badhaai Ho, which has earned over Rs 45 crore in its extended first weekend.
